Maybe I live under a rock...
...but I have never seen headlight wipers before:
Does anyone know if these actually provide any real benefit? Or are they a joke.

Sounds like a good question for the car talk guys. I don't imagine that the water cares whether it falls down or is swept to the side, but it does occur to me that I sometimes use my windshield wipers to remove condensation from the outside of the windshield. Perhaps these do the same thing?
perhaps it's for the ocd/anal types who don't want their headlights refracted through drops of water? i've seen them before and thought they were on the useless side.
